Rainwater from mountains west is elevating river levels. Hoi An under one meter of water and Danang main street, Bach Dang is under water.

This is to let you know that my urgent appeal on THOI BAO has met with several generous responses so far. Other responses are coming.

I have learned that Mrs Hy Hoa (a doctor and active member of EDV) had launched an appeal to friends and has collected 1000 euros and 500$US so far). I have also learned through some ACE that our great Edouard had already collected more than 2000euros from the generous Martiniquais. Some groups of former students have promised me to help victims in Hue and around. Very encouraging indeed.
In the photos I am sending you today, you can see how my relief team, my students in French and English, have tried to reach the people in remote areas. We have done our best so that every penny donated by people from France, Canada or anywhere else can reach the victims in out-of-the-way areas.
We still have many villages in store that we must reach in a few days. Still a lot to do!
So far we have carried more than 1200 boxes of instant noodles to 8 villages, that means more than 1200 families aided. I overheard a woman telling quietly to other people she would have to eat for one month. I could not imagine how she would manage to eat one packet of noodles a day. People explain it simply that you just boil a packet of noodles with plenty of vegetables in a big cooking pot and the whole family can enjoy it for a whole day.
